Wanted: Your Suggestions.

Dear reader, what topics would you like me to write about?

Some of you have given me the gift of your attention for months, if not years. (Thank you!) I’m never sure what draws people back here to read my writing.

Now that I am clearly a “middle career” psychiatrist, I feel a duty to share what I know. This moment in time feels unstable. My professional niche seems atypical. It feels important to contribute what (little) I know in case it can help someone, somewhere. (Sharing what I know here also helps me improve my writing skills.)

So, I welcome your feedback and suggestions. What would you like to read here? What questions do you have? How can I be useful within this context?

Comments are open, so feel free to share your ideas there. You can also send me an e-mail at maria at mariayang dot org. If you’re reading this through the e-mail newsletter, you can reply to the e-mail.

Thank you!

I think it’s been 15 years since the first time I suggested that you write a book. I don’t know what topic would keep your interest and focus for a project that long, but I would read it. I know that your writing about people struggling to find a place to live has made me view them with more kindness and patience.

Thank you, Maria, for decades of fine writing. Your intelligence and insights have been such a blessing. I remember beautiful posts you wrote about ballroom dance gatherings in WA, jogging in Central Park (– the marriage proposal – that was phenomenal!–)… You’ve shared such beauty about your Father. And the insights about your work! You have taught us so much about people who experience homelessness and mental un-health. THANK YOU. We did listen to the NPR interview and you were incredible. You speak as skillfully as you write!!! And your work and endurance through the early Covid years, I cannot even express how important your impact was. So in answer to your request for suggestions, I’d humbly say: please take excellent care of yourself, make sure you’re taking time to enjoy your precious life, and keep writing whatever you want. Thank you for sharing with us. You are so appreciated. God Bless Maria Yang!
